Wallace, 33, begins his third year as manager at the Minor League level after guiding the Lake County Captains of the Midwest League to a 71-68 finish, and a second half division championship in 2012. Wallace was at the helm of a Mahoning Valley Scrappers team that finished 41-34 in 2011. He spent seven seasons in the Indians organization as a player (2002-2008), after signing as a non-drafted free agent in August of 2001. Wallace finished his professional career with a .223 average, 45 home runs and 180 RBI. The Brentwood, Tenn., native was a two-sport athlete in college, starring in football and baseball for the Vanderbilt Commodores.
Odor, 44, returns to the familiar territory of the Carolina League after spending the past two seasons in Double-A as hitting coach of the 2012 Eastern League champion Akron Aeros. Originally from Maracaibo, Venezuela, Odor served as hitting coach of the Kinston Indians from 2009-2010. This season marks his 26th overall in the Indians organization as a player, coach or coordinator. As a manager, he guided the Venezuelan League Indians to the 2008 championship and a 41-16 mark. As a player, Odor earned All-Star honors in the Carolina League in 1990. He was selected by the Indians in the 32nd round of the 1988 draft out of the University of New Orleans.
Harris, 38, spent the last two seasons as pitching coach at Lake County. Harris played professionally for 14 seasons with the Minnesota Twins, Seattle Mariners and the Indians. He made his major league debut in 2005 with the Mariners, pitching five scoreless innings in relief. From Alameda, Calif., Harris compiled a minor league record of 84-53 with a 3.61 ERA after being drafted in the 28th round by the Twins in 1995.
Mudcats' 2012 manager Edwin Rodriguez moves on to captain the Akron Aeros in 2013, while former hitting coach Scooter Tucker will manage Lake County.
The Mudcats will open the 2013 season on April 5 at Five County Stadium against the Winston-Salem Dash.
